It punches in for you

When click-tracking is on, every left-click gets a zoom at a standard 1.50×. Typing in a field gets one too. Nearby clicks become one clip. Entire-screen shares skip auto zoom — there is no single page to follow.

Cut it on a real timeline

Zoom, speed, cut, and trim — plus a voiceover or music track, a click effect at every recorded click, and an aspect-ratio crop for phone screens.

Export, offline

Zinra seeks through the take frame by frame and encodes an MP4 locally with WebCodecs. It never re-plays the clip in real time to re-record it, and it never leaves your machine.

How to use

What to pick, and when the zoom actually runs.

Auto zoom is not a guess at “something happened on screen.” It follows pointer events on a real Chrome page. If Zinra cannot see those events, you still get the recording — you just place zooms yourself on the timeline.

Record this page

Best default. Captures the tab you were on, injects the click helper there, and auto-zooms. Use this for product demos, tutorials, and bug reports on a webpage.

Share a Chrome tab or window

From Record my screen, pick a tab or a window. Clicks still get tracked on whichever Chrome tab is focused — best effort, because Chrome never names the exact source you picked.

Share the entire screen

Use this when you need a whole monitor. Auto zoom does not run: a click’s position on a page has no reliable spot in a desktop-sized frame. Add Zoom clips by hand after you stop.

Include camera

Optional. Check it in the popup before you record. Chrome asks for the webcam on the recorder tab. After Stop & edit, drag the circle on the preview — it is saved into the MP4.

Auto zoom

The rules, in plain language.

  • On by default — the popup checkbox “Mark a zoom on each click” must stay on. Turn it off and Zinra records without placing clips.
  • Left clicks only — a zoom starts where you click, at 1.50× standard depth (change depth in the popup or per clip).
  • Nearby clicks merge — clicks within about 1.25 seconds and close together on the page become one clip, so the camera does not stutter. Far-apart clicks each get their own clip, packed so bars do not overlap.
  • Typing counts — keying into a field adds a zoom framed around that field. Those clips stay fixed on the field instead of following the mouse.
  • You can rebuild or ignore it — drag clip edges, change depth, split at the playhead, or hit Rebuild auto zooms. The Zoom track is the source of truth, not the original clicks.

Privacy

There is no Zinra server to send it to.

Capture, edit, and export all run in Chrome on your computer. That is the product, not a footnote — useful when the tab is an admin panel, a customer record, or anything you would not paste into a cloud recorder.

  • No account. Preferences stay in Chrome sync storage. Recordings do not.
  • No analytics SDK. No advertising ID, no third-party tracker in the extension.
  • Export is local. WebCodecs encodes the MP4 in the editor window, then Chrome’s download picker saves it.
  • One tab, on purpose. Pointer sampling runs only while you record, only on that tab.

FAQ

Before you add it to Chrome.

Does anything leave my computer?

No. The recording, the timeline, and the MP4 export all stay on your machine. Zinra does not create an account and does not upload takes. See the privacy page.

Does it record my whole screen?

It can. Record this page is tab-only and always follows clicks. Record my screen opens Chrome’s picker: a tab, a window, or the entire screen. Entire-screen takes do not auto-zoom. See How to use.

When does automatic zoom work?

When Zinra can sample the pointer on a Chrome page: Record this page (always), or Record my screen if you shared a tab or a window and keep working in a Chrome tab. It does not run on a full-monitor share, if you turned off “Mark a zoom on each click,” or on clicks outside Chrome. Left-clicks and typing in a field create clips at 1.50×; nearby clicks merge into one.

Will it work on the Chrome Web Store?

Yes — Zinra is live on the Chrome Web Store. The Get Zinra buttons on this page open that listing. You can still load it unpacked from the GitHub repo if you want the latest source.

What do I get for free vs Pro?

Free is the full editor, unlimited, plus 2 exports at 720p/1080p 30fps. Pro removes the export cap entirely and adds higher output — 1080p60, 1440p, 4K — plus two extra click effects.

Can I use it for client or internal tools?

Yes. That is a main reason it exists. If the tab should never hit a third-party recorder, keep the take local and export the MP4 yourself.
